AFZELIA Environmental Consultants
The Feasibility/Environmental Screening is the determination of whether or not a Basic Assessment or Scoping and Full EIR is needed for a particular project or activity, in terms of best practise protocol it is advisable that that due diligence assessments are undertaken prior to incurring the expenses of an environmental impact assessment and legislative requirements.
The main objectives of a Feasibility/Environmental Screening Assessment are outlined below:
Identify any environmental and social fatal flaws or red flag issues;
Provide recommendations on management of environmental and social issues identified;
Provide guidance on legislative requirements;
Identify the environmental process/authorisations that will be required;
Identify additional specialist assessments that will be required;
Determine the costs associated with the environmental process; and
Determine the time frames associated with the environmental process;
Documentation can be utilised as part of the initial baseline assessment of the site to be included in either the Basic Assessment or Scoping and Full EIA report.
